It is similar to painting\, but with dyed fibers and a special felting needle that knots the fibers in place. This is a guided class with lots of tips\, tricks and encouragement. All levels of ability are welcome! Materials are all natural fibers such as wool\, silk\, and alpaca. Patience is key\, and mindfulness is encouraged as these needles are sharp! Meet new people\, have fun\, and create a 6×6″ needle felted picture that can be framed and displayed for your enjoyment. \nAll materials provided: work surface\, wool “canvas”\, various sizes of felting needles\, and all fiber. The seasonal Valparaiso Market\, hosted by Valpo Parks\, will be integrated into the event\, adding even more local vendors to peruse. Throughout the weekend\, attendees can also take part in interactive experiences including live music\, theater\, dance\, performances\, and hands-on create-and-take activities for all ages. \nSAND + STEEL Art Fest will be steeped in the history and dynamic theme of our county’s natural sand dunes and steel industry\, promising a unique experience of themed fusion between the two.
