DESCRIPTION:Visit local Valpo businesses on the Third Wednesday of each month for special creative exhibitions and interactive activities.\nThird Wednesdays invites you to experience creativity in downtown Valparaiso’s Creative District. Each month on the Third Wednesday\, participating businesses will offer their own “creative menu” including special activities\, rotating exhibits\, and unique experiences to explore during normal business hours. \nVisit any (or all!) of the participating locations below during their normal business hours. \nLower Lincoln\nFeatured quarterly exhibit of local artists is on display and able to be viewed during business hours and also on Third Wednesdays. \nRoots Cafe\nFeatured quarterly exhibit of local artists is on display and able to be viewed during business hours and also on Third Wednesdays. \nScented Science\nFeatured quarterly exhibit of one local artist is on display and able to be viewed during business hours and also on Third Wednesdays. \nNextdoor at Birdie’s\nFeatured quarterly exhibit of one local artist is on display and able to be viewed during business hours and also on Third Wednesdays. \nThe Press – Shut-up and Write Workshop\nIf you are an author or an aspiring author who needs time to dedicate to your writing\, this is the place for you. On Third Wednesdays\, PoCo Muse will provide an interactive “Spot PoCo Mouse” eye spy activity where a version of our mascot Poco Mouse will be hidden somewhere in the exhibit for visitors to find. When found visitors earn a special limited edition button! The current exhibit on display is “The Porter County Fair: Our Heart of Hearts” which runs until the end of October. DESCRIPTION:See artists paint new murals at our third annual Mural Walk in downtown Valparaiso\, IN\nThis popular family-friendly event also features live music\, free creative activities led by local artists\, giveaways and more. It’s fun for all ages! \nSaturday\, August 22\, 2026 (Rain date August 29)\nFree to the public\n9am – 3pm\nthroughout downtown Valparaiso\, IN \nThis year’s event will feature three new mural locations plus an engaging collaborative community project for a total of four new murals in downtown Valparaiso. Guests of all ages are welcome to explore current and newly activated sites throughout the day while enjoying live muralists\, music\, CREATE-it-and-TAKE-it activities\, and opportunities for kids to contribute to the collaborative piece. \nAttendees should check in at Valpo Creates Center\, City Hall\, or the VCC booth at the Valparaiso Farmers Market to receive a Mural Walk map\, scavenger hunt sheet for giveaways\, and a complimentary tote bag with the Official Mural Walk Coloring Book\, while supplies last. \nVisitors can meet artists\, learn about the creative process\, and experience downtown Valparaiso as vibrant public art comes to life. The self-guided event invites participants to discover murals throughout the city while supporting local businesses and celebrating the power of community-driven placemaking. \nVisitors can also explore mural locations through the Indiana Dunes Tourism Arts & Culture Trail app. Visit our website and social media for updates and additional programs. \nLearn more about our Mural Walk programming and see a map of murals facilitated by the VCC to enjoy Valparaiso’s public art year-round! \nOur four NEW featured locations and muralists\n1. The completed mural will be installed at Front Porch Music in September/October; check back for more updates soon! \n2. Smith Ready Mix: This will be the VCC’s tallest mural\n251 W. Brown Street Valparaiso\nMuralist: Felix Maldonado from Hammond\, IN \n3. Central Park Plaza: This will be the VCC’s 4th community mural\nMuralist / Design: Cassi Graber from South Bend\, IN\nThe community will help paint this mural at Valpo Creates Center (256 Indiana Ave. Valparaiso) on 8/22 and it will be installed at Central Park Plaza in September/October 2026; check back for more updates soon.
